START OF SUMMER

So here it is. Summer 2006. Honestly, the past two years have flown by and now, it's the summer again. Not only that, but I am technically a senior. Not a bad feeling at all. But that's not important to this blog. Instead, it's time to write about the great start to the summer and how it is shaping up.

I guess I should start with my living situation. Because my lease doesnt start until mid-July, I've been living on Court St. with my bud from work. Let me tell ya somethin: It couldn't be better. Great location, great hospitality and absolutely great food. I mean, manicott and garlic bread? Luscious. Not only that, but through my roommates for a month, I have met some other great peeps, who will definitely be great drinkage partners for months to come. Also, I have been exposed to the next great television show: Falcon Beach. Granted, the show is terrible when it comes to acting and plot but what makes it so terrible is what makes it so good. If you don't know what I mean, just check it out on Mondays at 9 on ABC Family. Better yet, tune in an hour earlier and check out the newest show to the ABC Family lineup, Kyle XY. According to the preview, the guy has no belly button. I don't know about you, but I'm intrigued.

What else has gone on this summer? Well, my schedule is absolutely sporadic. I mean, I knew I had no concrete plan of the structure of the summer but just these past two weeks have been everywhere. This week won't be any better as I welcome high schoolers to the campus. I get paid well for my work so I don't wanna complain too much but for a guy who likes things structured and scheduled, this summer is making my gead spin...or maybe that's the beverages? Who knows?

How bout the Cleveland Indians? Could they blow any more leads? This year has been terrible for the Tribe. It's hard to find words for the season they have experienced. Maybe it's due to all the pressure from the media and fans. Maybe it's due to injuries. Or maybe it's due to their unwillingness to spend some money for some good players. Whatever the reason, this season is turning into a disappointing one. That's too bad too because this team has all the tools. But the pitching this year will not allow the bats to score enough runs. As a fan, the frustration has set in with this team because of all of the potential this team has. But I will try and stay optimicitc, but with every loss, my attachment to this year's team gets thinner and thinner.

So what else is new? Well, not much. All kinds of sports stuff on and even better stuff on TV. All kinds of first-year students here as well as those nearing graduation. Also a lot of townies combined with out-of-towners. All I know is that I think this will be a good summer. More updates soon on the summer heat in the ATH. For now, have fun at work, listen to your elders, and as always, HAKUNA MATATA!
